The Reservas del País Foundation closes a series of national discussions on the Prevention of Money Laundering for
Cooperatives and Allied Associations

The Reservas del País Foundation successfully completed a series of discussions in different regions of the country, as well as in the Gran Santo Domingo, on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, for cooperatives and non-profit associations executives that provide financing for the development of MSMEs. Aware of the importance of this subject to the sustainability of the microfinance sector, the institution offered these workshops, which were well received by all its partners. These workshops created for strengthening the capabilities of executives and compliance officers to mitigate risks and comply with current regulations. These training events, which spanned the entire country, began in July 2024 in the northern part of the country, continued in the Peravia province with entities located in the south zone, and concluded in Gran Santo Domingo in February 2025, in the Banreservas Club.

María Isabel Pérez, executive president of Reservas del País, expressed during these activities that the Foundation desires to continue contributing to the strengthening and protection of microfinance institutions and the microentrepreneurs they serve. She also expressed the entity's interest in promoting training and boosting the institutional strengthening of its partner entities, promoting safer, more transparent management aligned with current regulatory standards, and at the same time encouraging this type of activities that provide knowledge on this important topic in order to prevent improper practices and detect any suspicious activity in time. The speakers at these talks were Paola Romero, CEO of Certeza Group, and Wagner Cubilete, Attorney at the Specialized Prosecutor's Office of the Administrative Commission (PEPCA). They addressed the best practices and regulations for preventing these financial crimes, as well as guidance on the types of money laundering and the regulations currently in place to better understand their clients.
